Risen 2: Dark Waters, developed by Piranha Bytes, and these guys know how to create something really epic. The plot revolves around the hero of the first part. This time he has to go in search of the legendary pirate – captain Greg Ironbeard. Rumor has it that he has an incredible weapon against the titans and monsters of the sea (and there will be plenty of them). Well, of course, in the finale the hero will be saving the world – all the classic.

One of the undeniable pluses of Risen 2: Dark Waters is a unique gaming atmosphere. The times of pirates are recreated very naturally: with widespread drunkenness, robbery and a subtle aftertaste of despair. The social structure of the game world is organized in the style of previous “Piranha” projects. There will be inquisitors, free sailors, slave owners, and, of course, natives. At the same time, each caste has its own view of the surrounding reality, its own goals and its own attractions. The hero will not once have to make a difficult, from a moral and ethical point of view, the choice between enemies and allies.

In the course of the passage the main character, accompanied by his companions, travels through the islands, each of which has its own unique history and atmosphere. At the same time, the game world can not be called open. The narration follows a strictly set scheme. The scenario seems to hint at the right of choice, but does not give it. If you’ve identified a traitor, you’ll have to destroy him in any case. And no matter how badly you behave, in the end it’s thanks to you that things will get better and universal evil will be defeated.

Definitely, Dark Waters will appeal to fans of the first parts of Gothic and Risen. On the one hand, we see a classic set for Piranha Bytes: a nameless hero, bribe-taking guards, quests to gain the trust of one caste or another, an outrageously simple skill system, a bunch of warring factions, an enormous backpack for items and a lot of aggressive creatures that eat you up at once at the beginning of the game. On the other hand, pleasant nostalgia is gradually replaced by a feeling of bored secondary and repetition of what is happening.
